Solar Facts And Questions FAQ
Washington State actively promotes solar energy adoption through net metering rules and a sales tax exemption for 1 kw to 100 kw solar systems. This exemption, effective from July 1, 2019 to December 31, 2029, offers significant cost savings for solar projects.
Net metering is a billing arrangement used by utilities that allows owners of solar to receive a $1-for-$1 credit for any excess electricity they generate and feed back into the grid. This credit can be used to offset your future electricity bills, effectively "banking" the excess energy and ensuring a fair compensation for the electricity you contribute to the grid. Think of this as a FREE Energy Backup Program.
Get a 30% federal tax credit on residential solar systems installed from 2022 to 2033. This credit applies to the system's total cost, including equipment, labor, and backup battery storage. After 2033, the credit gradually decreases to less.

Solar panels require very little maintenance, but it is recommended to clean them once or twice a year to ensure maximum efficiency. Do not use soapy water to aid in cleaning as the chemicals can damage the sealant on the edges of the solar panels. We suggest contacting a solar panel cleaning service in your area familiar with cleaning solar panels. Please reference you solar panel maintenance warranty information.
